Michael
and Myra met while attending the master’s program in journalism
at Baruch College in the fall of 2002.
Myra was
immediately smitten with Mike’s astute observations in
class, sidesplitting wisecracks outside of class, and beautiful
baby blues. She also couldn’t help but develop a crush
on Michael once she discovered his web site.
Michael thought
Myra was very cute and funny, but a bit shy. After learning
she was nine years his junior, Michael had second thoughts about
pursuing Myra. When it became evident that she liked him, however,
he disregarded those thoughts. On a rainy evening in December,
he asked her out. On one of the couple’s first dates,
Myra chose her hot cocoa because its packaging had “the
best font.” Mike knew he’d met the girl for him.
In March
2003, they moved into an apartment in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
One year later they moved to Trumbull, Conn., where they adopted
two cats, Bobo and Puma. On the weekends, they are able to enjoy
all the peace and quiet a suburban existence allows. During
the week, Michael commutes to the city for four hours each day
while Myra commutes part time and also works from home. This
allows them to have “date nights” in the city.
Their most
special date night was on December 9, 2004, at The View, New
York City’s only revolving rooftop restaurant (also considered
the cheesiest place on earth). Knowing how to make Myra swoon,
Michael treated her to a lavish dinner. Over a chocolate-laden
dessert, he popped the question, and Myra accepted without hesitation.
It was raining when he whisked her away by bicycle rickshaw
to the Carlton Arms Hotel. It was altogether one of the craziest
and most hilarious nights of their lives.
Since then, the couple has been living happily ever after...
except for the stress of planning a wedding. Both Michael and
Myra can’t wait to get it over with! They just hope it
doesn’t rain.
